What E-Notarisation Is
E-notarisation is the UAE’s digital notarisation process. It allows powers of attorney to be notarised via video call with a licensed UAE notary. The process carries the same legal weight as in-person notarisation for most document types.
How It Works
An appointment is scheduled with a UAE notary. You join via video call. The notary verifies your identity using your passport and Emirates ID. The document is reviewed. An OTP is sent to your registered UAE mobile number for confirmation. Once confirmed, the notary applies the digital seal and the POA is issued electronically.
What You Need
Valid passport. Emirates ID if you are a UAE resident. A device with working camera and microphone. Stable internet connection. An active UAE phone number for OTP verification. If you do not have a UAE number, alternative arrangements may be possible depending on the notary.
Limitations
E-notarisation is available for most POA types, but not all. Certain court-related POAs or documents requiring physical attestation may still require in-person attendance.
Additionally, e-notarisation confirms that the document is notarised. It does not guarantee that the receiving authority, bank, or institution will accept it without further questions. Acceptance depends on the quality of the drafting and the requirements of the specific institution.
